Appendix I: Supporting OPA demand « Outbrain Developer Center

Eligibility for additional partner demand will be determined by your Outbrain Account Strategist and Sales Engineer.

Requirements In order to support additional demands from Outbrain Programmatic Access (OPA), the partners are required to meet following requirements. 1. All tracking pixels must be fired 2. Image must be resized in the given strategy 3. Disclosure and AdChoice icon must be shown on the recommendations

1. Impression tracking pixels A list of pixel URLs will be provided in doc.pixels element of each recommendation. It’s required to fire all the pixels. It’s preferred to be fired on the client’s device, however, it’s allowed to fire it on the server side after serving a recommendation to the client. Image pixels: Support for this type of pixel is mandatory JavaScript pixels: We’ll serve this type of demands if your implementation can support JavaScript. Please contact Outbrain Account Strategist.

2. Click tracking pixels A list of pixel URLs will be provided in doc.clicktrackers element of each recommendation. It’s required to fire all the pixels when the user clicks on the recommendation. Image pixels: Support for this type of pixel is mandatory JavaScript pixels: There’s no JavaScript format of click trackers

3. Image resize In case the doc.thumbnail.resizeStrategy exist, the thumbnail image needs to be resized in the client according to the given strategy. This can be translated to a

css attribute “background-size” of the image element. * 1 = PAD/contain A keyword that scales the image as large as possible and maintains image aspect ratio (image doesn’t get squished). Image is letterboxed within the container. When the image and container have different dimensions, the empty areas (either top/bottom or left/right) are filled with the background-color. * 2 = FILL/cover A keyword that is the inverse of contain. Scales the image as large as possible and maintains image aspect ratio (image doesn’t get squished). The image “covers” the entire width or height of the container. When the image and container have different dimensions, the image is clipped either left/right or top/bottom.

4. Outbrain Disclosure Outbrain

Branding/Disclosures which leads to the privacy policy must be displayed where it can be reasonably associated with relevant content as mutually agreed upon between the client and Outbrain.

5. AdChoice icon for individual Ads If doc.disclosure element is present, it’s required to show the AdChoices icon (disclosure.icon) in the top right corner of the specific recommendation and link this icon to the given disclosure.url. See Sample Response below.

Request Parameters – No additional parameters are required.

Parameters for testing To test this demand, you can temporarily add these params to the Outbrain endpoint.
